A gas company in Azerbaijan was looking for a gas meter manufacturer in 2006. Finally, this company chose ZENNER to work with, due to our extensive experience and high quality products. Our company customized a smart gas meter according to the customer requirements, realizing NFC smart card based prepaid gas metering. With great effort, 243000 smart gas meters were installed in the gas company in Azerbaijan.

The gas metering system used smart gas meters equipped with near field communication (NFC), enabling the smart meters to interact with other IoT-connected devices such as smart phones, tablets, energy displays, contactless prepaid cards and so on. The data can be real-time exchanged between gas meters and gas company's billing system or ATMs, ensuring the NFC-enabled gas metering solution realized meter data collection, low prepay balance alert and various prepay channels including smart card-based payments and ATMs. In addition, emergency credit function is available while managing arrears, allowing for continuous gas supply in an emergency.

In order to improve metering accuracy under extremely cold weather in Azerbaijan, we specially integrated temperature compensation function into the gas meter.
